I feel so fucking.. er, faggot.
I can't tell what I want and what I don't want anymore.
I can't tell if I'm having fun or pretending to fulfill my life.
I can't tell if I'm happy or frustrated.
I know I have fun watching animes like CLANNAD, I know I had fun spending 50 over hours on the CLANNAD game, I know I have fun theorycrafting for Dissidia and DotA, I know I had fun fighting people on Dissidia's online play, I know I had fun at the anime conventions I've went to, I know I have fun drawing no matter the result, I know I have fun playing the piano learning anime-based songs.
I don't know if I have fun playing DotA every night with everyone, I don't know if I have fun going out with everyone, I don't know if I have fun listening to all of you talk, I don't know if I have fun going to sleepovers, I don't know if I really want to go to any of these outings or sleepovers, I don't know if I have fun talking to any of you.
I'm having a problem.
I know I love anime, theorycrafting for games, playing games in general, drawing and piano because I choose to do these things myself. Other than people calling me an otaku fag, which already stopped, there is no influence on my decision to do these things or not. I love these things naturally and want to do them purely out of my own will.
What I can't tell is... do I have fun with everyone else. If I don't talk to anyone, I hve no one to talk to when I need to. If I am not in the mood to talk to anyone, I still have to bear with it because if not there's a negative influence. If I don't want to play and have no good reason, I'm a faggot. If I do play and play purely my way, shouting and screaming at anyone who irritates me, I'm a faggot. If I don't ever go out with anyone, I'm a faggot.
These thoughts only started when I realised I've spent 3 years knowing Merrill, he was the one who eventually linked me up to everyone else, because we were coincidentally in the same class in year one. I was still a happy, random kid back then as far as I can remember, but I've changed dramatically since then. I'm consciously refusing anything I don't like without a thought of other people, I scold anyone whom I personally think is doing something wrong, and I like pushing people under me through words or actions.
I recently realized I don't like a lot of the things he does, maybe it's because we were playing DotA at the time and I realized that the rest of us have this vague sense of seriousness in playing, except Randall 'cause he's fucking whiny. Jon Wei, Thomas can be rallied into being serious, Dornel is a bit too enthusiastic sometimes and it pisses me off when he denies it, but ultimately he can also be serious. Merrill is only serious, from what I've observed, when his personal KD is really fucked up, or when he's just pissed off. And even then, he only gets serious from the occurence of these things once in awhile.
Lots of people tell me 'it's just a game, there's no reason to get so pissed off about it'. As someone who spends his hours on the DotA forum, reading little bits of info here and there that has resulted in my amassed knowledge of DotA and Warcraft 3 mechanics, I have my pride. I play ultimately to win, I enjoy the feeling of dominating my opponent. Hence, I love it when I win, I may not hate it when I lose because the enemies were competent. I will hate it if it was because my team was not serious.
After thinking about that, I can't tell if I'm actually having fun with the rest of you. Maybe it's because I need to fulfill this 'requirement' called 'having a life'. A want that I consciously deny that I have, but unsciously have. I'm a bit of a non-comformist, occasionally I do things that are unorthodox to be different, unique. But I myself know that I feel that pressure to be 'normal' for most things. I don't want to be a social outcast, I don't want to have my only friends be those over internet forums, MSN or worse still, the girls in my visual novels. Maybe that's why I force myself to go out, to hang out with everyone and to 'have fun'.
I can't even tell what kind of impact this will have on everyone, if they happen to read this post. I can't even say I have another month before school starts to sort out my mind, communication happens every day. I have ultimately until the next conversation starts to get it straight.
